Annabel Nowlan - ‘Dogma’ Installation – Etched glass swings, rope

Annabel Nowlan is a Melbourne -based mixed media artist who works with a range of mediums and exhibits widely throughout Victoria and will also be having a solo exhibition at RRRTAG in February 2019. Annabel states "Dogma explores the impact of religious doctrine and the dubious foundations of patriarchal and puritanical ideologies. The subject matter of this installation is drawn from early personal experiences: a catholic upbringing in a small rural NSW community, and ghastly experiences at catholic boarding schools. These works also reflects my curiosity of anti-social behaviour, humour and an irreverent attraction to the wicked ".

During the Colac Otway Arts Trail and the last weekend of the Corangamarah Art Prize conc.ceit Annabel will speak about her art practice and the inspiration behind 'Dogma' on Saturday 27October @ 4.30pm – 6.00pm, WINDOWSPACE-BEEAC, 79 Main Street, Beeac Come and enjoy refreshments and good conversation

The Rank Outsiders are four seasoned musos cobbled together from The Big Smoke to the Great Ocean Rd.They love nothing more than the sound of vintage guitars played through fine amplification, a little denim and a smattering of facial hair.

Schooled in the great deeds of acts such as SRV, early ZZ Top, Freddie King, Clapton, The allman Bros, Jimi Hendrix, Los Lobos,Georgia Satellites and the original Fleetwood Mac to name a few, the boys deploy a classy trove of their own tunes at every opportuity and can delve into the extensive repertoire of blues and R'n'B covers when required.

Together they serve a refreshing and irresistible sonic spread. Good time, Bluesy rock'n'roll, drenched in classic R'n'B roots, delivered with a touch of mongrel.

Kerryn Fields....A farmhouse garden gig in Birregurra

NOVEMBER 2018 ~ Sunday 11 > Sunday 11 November

Kerryn Fields....A farmhouse garden gig in Birregurra

On Sunday 11 November 2018 at 2:00pm

LOCATION

Venue address provided the week of the event.
Located approx 3kms outside of the township of Birregurra, Birregurra, VIC 3242

Kerryn Fields is an adrogynous Melbourne-based folk singer whose enormous life story and hopeless romanticism gets her into trouble (and onto airplanes). Kerryn’s poignant and powerful songs, baritone brilliance and unassuming string-plucking virtuosity leave audiences transfixed, crying and laughing hysterically.

Inspired by great storytellers and musicians, it was Paul Kelly's song, co-written with Kev Carmody, ‘From Little Things Big Things Grow’, that convinced Fields to move out of a haunted house in New Zealand, sell her Kombi van and buy a one-way ticket to Melbourne.

Good mates Sam Lohs and Rosie Burgess are her band, backing the amazon storyteller with out-of-control musicianship, divine harmonies & wild banter.

Hosted by music lovers and Birre locals, Jared and Brydie, on their beautiful farm just outside of town, this gig will be one of those shows that welds itself to your bones so tight that you can't shake it loose. This is an intimate gig and tickets are strictly limited. They will sell fast.

The show is BYO and family friendly, so bring a picnic, a rug, or your deck chairs and sit back for a very special arvo on the farm.

Parking is plentyful and the venue address will be sent to you after you purchase your tickets.
Tickets are $20 plus a small surcharge of $0.80 per ticket for CC processing fee and Trybooking fee

Entries have opened for Australia’s most respected mountain bike marathon, The Otway Odyssey presented by Focus which will see two new gravel road races added in 2017 line-up over the weekend of 24th-25th February.

For ten years, riders have travelled to the famous Otway rainforest of Forrest in south-western Victoria to take on the region’s iconic single track, but in 2017 even more riders can be part of the action with the addition of the Great Otway Gravel Grind (The GOGG) to the schedule of events.

A Gravel Grind is an event held on unsealed 2WD roads and the Otway Ranges around Forrest are infused with these, making for some superb riding on traffic free roads through the wilderness. The GOGG will include 49km and 97km options that make them achievable for all styles of rider on either road bikes, cyclocross, mountain or hybrid bikes.

The action gets underway on Saturday 24th February with the principle mountain bike races; the 100km Odyssey, the 50km Shorty and the 30km Rookie, all starting and finishing amidst a huge bike expo and food festival at the Forrest Football Ground. The GOGG races and the kids 10km Pioneer MTB will be held on Sunday 25th February.

The Otway Odyssey MTB Marathons have been held for the last 10 years and have grown to become the pre-eminent mountain bike races in Australia and on the bucket list for many cyclists. The courses are well known for their tough climbs and technical trails, but also for the friendliness on course and the race atmosphere around the Forrest Football Ground expo area.

All courses of the Otway Odyssey take advantage of the extensive network of single track and 2WD roads of Forrest and the Otways. Combined with the beauty on offer in the Great Otway National Park, the electrifying race atmosphere and sense of satisfaction you get when you finish in the middle of the massive event festival, it’s an event not to be missed.
